Emerson Network Power Continues to Drive Down Cost of MicroTCA with Next Generation AdvancedMC Module

Configured for AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA systems, new PowerPC dual-core processor-based AMC delivers high-availability, scalability and manageability

TEMPE, Ariz. [February 21, 2008] – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, today announced the PrAMC-6210, a next-generation Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) available for a volume price of under $2,000. Available in both full and mid-size versions for AdvancedTCA® (ATCA®), MicroTCA™ and proprietary architecture systems, the PrAMC-6210 is based on Freescale’s MPC8641D PowerPC® dual-core processor.

Developed by the Embedded Computing business of Emerson Network Power, the PrAMC-6210 is designed to provide modular, upgradeable, computing power for manufacturers of telecommunications, defense, aerospace, homeland security and industrial automation equipment. Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can use the PrAMC-6210 to boost the performance of their existing Power Architecture applications, such as protocol processing, packet processing, data management and I/O management, while lowering their total cost of ownership by consolidating hardware.

“Emerson is continuing to drive down the cost of MicroTCA technology with this new AMC,” said Jeff Durst, program director of processors for the Embedded Computing business of Emerson Network Power. “The availability of the PrAMC-6210 broadens the ATCA and MicroTCA ecosystem by giving the industry an additional high performance-low-power choice to support legacy PowerPC application code.”

The PrAMC-6210 is equipped with carrier grade features, such as a dual-flash bank architecture and a high mean-time-between-failure (MTBF), enabling network equipment providers to address high availability requirements. It also gives the industry a high performance, low-power choice to support legacy PowerPC application code. To support high-speed packet data transfers on and off the card, the PrAMC-6210 features Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and PCI Express (PCIe) interfaces to the carrier or backplane. With ever-increasing application and data transfer requirements, this combination of more traditional GbE interfaces and the emerging PCIe interface allows developers to easily migrate existing applications.

Emerson expects PrAMC-6210 modules to be available in the second quarter of 2008. In addition to being offered for purchase as a standalone module, Emerson Network Power will integrate the PrAMC-6210 into its MicroTCA system product lines to accelerate customers’ ability to take advantage of the new technology.

Operating system support includes MontaVista CGE Linux OS, Wind River Platform for Network Equipment-Linux Edition and Wind River VxWorks RTOS.

The PrAMC-6210 will be part of Emerson Network Power’s showcase of market-leading ATCA, MicroTCA and AMC products at Embedded World 2008, to be held February 26 – 28 at the Nuremberg Messe in Nuremberg, Germany.
